CHARM SPIRIT'S FIRST YEARLINGS HEAD TO THE SALES

It's an exciting time for Tweenhills and Aga Khan Studs as the first yearlings by triple Gr. 1 winner Charm Spirit are offered for sale this autumn.

It all starts at Arqana's August Yearling Sale at Deauville and Charm Spirit's first yearling to enter the ring will be a half-brother to dual Gr. 1 winner - and dual Royal Ascot winner - Qemah (Lot 10). The colt is out of multiple Stakes placed Kartica (by Rainbow Quest) and will be offered by his breeders Haras du Cadran.

Also among Charm Spirit's first yearlings catalogued are a colt and a filly from Ecurie des Monceaux, who also bred and raised the stallion himself. Lot 207 is the second son of winning mare Miss Plimsoll (by Arch), who is a full sister to Gr. 2 Lancashire Oaks winner Pomology, and Lot 214 is a daughter of multiple Stakes winner Naissance Royale (by Giant's Causeway), who has already produced Stakes-placed filly Jadhaba.

Charm Spirit will also be well represented at other yearling sales in Europe. His three progeny due for sale at Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale (Aug 29th and 30th) include Lot 406 a filly from the family of four-time Gr. 1 winner Postponed and his recent Gr. 3-winning half-sister God Given. This filly was sold for 85,000gns by Mickley Stud also joint breeders of Havana Grey, the triple Stakes winning son of leading First Season Sire Havana Gold.

There are four Charm Spirit's catalogued at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale (Sep 19th and 20th), among them Lot 144 a half-sister to Havana Gold's debut winner Tabdeed, and staying in Ireland, another five will go through the ring at Goffs Orby Sale (Sep 26th and 27th).

A total of 36 sons and daughters of Charm Spirit are scheduled to come under the hammer at Tattersalls in October, with seven entered in Book 1 (Oct 3rd to 5th) and 26 in Book 2 (Oct 9th to 11th), as well as three in Book 3 (Oct 12th and 13th). Tattersalls has also hosted some fine sons and daughters of Charm Spirit as six of his progeny sold for at least 80,000 guineas at the December Foal Sale in 2016, including two colts who went for 140,000 guineas and 110,000 guineas respectively.

Charm Spirit stood the 2017 breeding season at Tweenhills and is currently standing the Southern Hemisphere breeding season at Windsor Park Stud in New Zealand. He will return to the Aga Khan Studs for the 2018 breeding season.
